OUR STORY
Our journey into wetsuit heating began back in the early 2000s, when founder Chris Lyons spent several seasons braving the freezing Canadian ski fields - where temperatures often dropped to minus 30C.
It was there, surrounded by snow and ice, that the idea was born. Inspired by disposable hand and toe warmers, Chris envisioned a reusable heat source that could be used inside a wetsuit to help surfers, divers, and water lovers stay warmer for longer.
Upon returning home to Torquay, Australia, the idea evolved into a lifelong obsession with conquering cold water. After countless hours of testing and refining prototypes, Chris filed the world's first Heated Wetsuit patent in 2004.
His invention, branded Hotsuits, gained national attention on the TV show The New Inventors and was soon making waves in markets around the world. In the years that followed, even major surf companies like Rip Curl and Quiksilver began developing their own heated wetsuits - bringing recognition to an industry that Chris helped pioneer.
But while others struggled with the challenges of saltwater and waterproofing, Chris continued to innovate. His relentless drive to solve problems led to the creation of the world's first and only completely wireless wetsuit heating system - Wettie Warmaz.
"I've always wanted to change the mindset around being cold in the water. It shouldn't be an obstacle to enjoying your favourite activity. Hearing from customers all over the world about how much more comfortable and enjoyable their time in the water has become - that's what drives me."
Today, Wettie Warmaz remains a 100% Australian-owned, independent, family-run business. Chris and his wife continue to push boundaries with the same passion and purpose that started it all - creating the best possible wetsuit heating products at an affordable price for water lovers everywhere.
